Janet “Jan” A. Thiel, age 79, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem.
Family and friends will gather at the Koespell-Murray Funeral Home, 131 East Maple Avenue in Beaver Dam, on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, and at church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin and Fr. Charles Scheuerell will concelebrate. Burial will be at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
The former Janet Arnet was born on January 7, 1935 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to the late John J. and Henrietta (nee Gautsch) Arnet. She was a 1952 graduate of LaCrosse Central High School and attended LaCrosse and Whitewater State Colleges. On February 13, 1954, she was united in marriage with Raymond J. Thiel in Whitewater. Jan was a Real Estate Broker in Beaver Dam for many years, retiring in 1993. She was an active member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam. Jan was a past member of Dodge County Board of Realtors, the Wisconsin Realtors Association, the National Association of Realtors, and the Women”s Affiliate of the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her three children, Michael (Kerri) Thiel of Waupaca, Laura (Jim) Drake of West Salem, and Daniel Thiel of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Aaron (Abigail) Thiel, Andrea (Bill) Harrison, Ryan Mullens, Erika (Joey) Drake-Weber, Jordan (Tae) Drake, and Mackenzie (Ann) Thiel; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Ethan, and Austin Weber, Mason Drake, and Avery Harrison; other relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Thiel; her granddaughter, Danni Jo Thiel; and her sisters, Jean Arnet and Judith Schaller.
