Janice E. Wrucke, age 72 of Juneau, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Visitation for Jan will be at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. Palmatory in Horicon, on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Friday, May 10, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Funeral services will be at church on Friday beginning promptly at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
Janice Elsie Wrucke (Durnford) was born on June 1, 1940 in Milwaukee, 6 minutes before her twin sister Jeanne. She was baptized on her father”s birthday, October 6, 1940. Jan grew up in Oconomowoc among many family and friends. After graduating from Oconomowoc High School, she attended Carroll College in Waukesha and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Education. On June 6, 1987, she was united in marriage with Rodger Wrucke at Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. They lived and farmed west of Horicon until they retired and moved to Juneau in 2005. Jan said that she loved the Lord and doing his work and she lived her life showing it. Jan taught kindergarten at St. Stephen Lutheran School in Horicon for 18 years; it truly was her dream job. She had many other interesting teaching jobs. She was very active in church activities including Secretary of Church Council, Chair of Parish Education, Vacation Bible School Director for many years, and she attended Bible class for many years. Jan really enjoyed helping Sandy Brewer at the Food Pantry and she was also a member of Lutheran Women Missionary League. Jan enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and all of her “Pool Babes” friends.
Survivors include her husband, Rodger Wrucke of Juneau; two children, Gregory (Kim) Ronning and James A. Ronning; four stepchildren, Lori (Gregg) Du Puis, Daniel (Cindy) Wrucke, Grace (Johnny) Kiefer, and William (Kris) Wrucke; 13 grandchildren, Tara (John) Gregurich, Jordan Wrucke, Megan Leigl, Ian Leigl, John Kiefer, Kyle Kiefer, Cassie Ronning, Sarah (Mike) Henke, Erin (Taylor) Rose, Kristen Du Puis, Ben Wrucke, David Wrucke, and Michael Wrucke; a great grandchild, Brielle Henke, and two great grandchildren on the way, baby Gregurich and baby Rose; two sisters, Jeanne Durnford and Paula (Jerry) Anderson; two aunts, Floy Durnford and Delores Durnford; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jeanne M. Ronning (1975) and her grandson, Justin Wrucke (2009).
