Janos Sandor Pintar, age 75, of Juneau, traveled his final journey of life back home due to complications from a stroke, on Saturday, March 22, 2014. John was surrounded by his family and friends in his home, with abundant love and support.
John was born on October 1, 1938 to Janos and Margit (Czifra) Pintar in Újfeharta, Hungary. John made his adventurous journey to America in 1956, where he joined the United States Army. He served many years in active duty, as well as reserves, and was also a member of the Juneau American Legion, Post #15. He was a well-known amateur boxer in the Milwaukee area during his 20’s, and was certified with The Department of Natural Resources as a pilot. John worked at Aunt Nellie’s/Seneca Foods for many years, retiring in 2000, and spent the next few years enjoying the things he loved to do; carrying on Hungarian traditions with making wine, sausage, etc., working on cars, gardening, tending to his fruit trees, and raising a variety of animals. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether you referred to him as Daddio, John, or Jiggling Janos Pintar, you knew him as a loyal friend. He was always up for a party, or a cup of coffee, or even just shootin’ the breeze.
Janos is survived by his children, Michele (Brett) Kear of Indianapolis, IN, Jimee (Patrina) Stewart of Waukesha, Julee (Patrick) Desmarais of Juneau, Jenee (Clinton) Miller of Juneau, and Jesee (James) Beauprey of Juneau; grandchildren, Matthew, Mackenzie, Heather, Abbigayle, Kassandra, Olivia, Joshua, Morgan, Jozee, Joseph, Jayton, Daniel, Makenna, and Nikolas; brothers and sisters, Istvan Pintar, Vera, Jazsef, Eszter, Zoltan, Sandor, Laszla, and Bala. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margit and Ilona; and his fur friend, Topaz.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
