Jason L. Stearns, Jr. (age 63) of Horicon, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee.
The visitation for Jason will be at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Friday, March 25, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Lake Maria Cemetery, Town of Manchester, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, with military honors provided by the Randolph VFW Post # 9510.
Jason Lee Stearns, Jr. was born on January 15, 1948 to Jason L. and Leila (Tingley) Stearns in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He grew up in the Waupun area and was a graduate of Waupun High School. Jason proudly served in the US Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1971. He worked as an Engineer Equipment Repairman in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Jason also was in Vietnam from July 13, 1968 until July 7, 1969, earning a National Defense Service Medal, two Oversea Bars, a Vietnam Service & Campaign Medal and an Expert & Sharpshooter Badge. He was a mechanic for Joy Farm Transportation in Milwaukee and was the manager of Ames Drywall Store in the Milwaukee area. Jason worked in sales for Stickler and Associates in Milwaukee until 1984 and in his most recent years, he had his own construction company. On October 21, 2000, Jason was united in marriage with Helen Subel in South Milwaukee. He was a member of the Voss Philipsky VFW Post #8057 in Horicon & the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Survivors are his wife, Helen of Horicon; his daughters, Jennifer Stearns of Wauwatosa, Julie “Phred” Rosenberg of Menomonee Falls, and Jessica Stearns of Greenfield; one grandson, Will Rosenberg; his dog, Sandy; stepson, Ryan (Laura) Mokelke of West Allis; sisters, Leila Stearns of Arkansas, and Nancy (Harry) Fraley of Antigo; his former wife, Jacqueline Stearns, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Jason L. Stearns, Jr.”s name to the American Lung Association or to the Blood Center of Wisconsin.
