Jean Hollnagel, age 71, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her home in Fox Lake.
Visitation for Jean will be at St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral will follow at church at 11:00 AM with Rev. David A. Nottling officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake.
The former Jean Alice Dettwiler was born on January 3, 1942 in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Alvin and Geneva (Martinson) Dettwiler. From first to eighth grade, she attended a one-room school rural school (Springdale Center). She was active in the Springdale 4-H and graduated from Mt. Horeb High School, class of 1960. Jean attended Madison Area Technical College and then went to work for the Motor Vehicle Department at Hill Farm. She also worked seasonally for Cheesemen in Sun Prairie and Green Giant in Fox Lake, as well as, in the office at St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake for a short time. On April 15, 1972, Jean was united in marriage with Jack L. Hollnagel at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Horeb. Jean was a kidney transplant recipient 35 years ago from her brother Bob. She was a member of St. John”s Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid; she was also a member of Fox Lake Fire Department Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 521 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Fox Lake; two sisters, Joyce Gust and Ruth Olson of Verona; her two brothers, Bob (Judy) Dettwiler of Verona and Phil (Ann) Dettwiler of Mt. Horeb; her sister-in-law, Penny (Harlan) Schmidt; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Margie) Hollnagel; her godchildren, Dianne (Kevin) Logenbuhl, Nathan Biel, and Dan Drewa; she is further survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jim Dettwiler; brother-in-law, Clifford Gust; her in-laws, Clint and Lucile Hollnagel; and her brother-in-law, Bob Hollnagel.
