Joel Douglas Bacher, 64 years old, of Mayville, formerly of Mequon passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Daniel Seehafer and Rev. Jonathan Szczsney officiating. A visitation will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.

Joel was born on July 20, 1948 in Port Washington, WI to Lester and Dorothy (Arnold) Bacher. He was a graduate of University of Wisconsin Madison Agriculture Short Course. He married Rita Dellamater on September 11, 1971 in Sun Prarie, WI. Joel owned and operated Bacher Farms Inc..Joel was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon where he served the church as an elder, was a former alderman for the city of Mequon, Capt. for the Mequon Fire Dept. enjoyed kayaking and antiques. Most important to Joel was his faith and his family.

Joel is survived by: his wife of Rita. His children- Jason (Amanda) Bacher of Hartford WI, Erick (Tracy) Bacher of Deer Park, IL, Debra (Jeff) Beezley of Arlington, TX. His sisters and brothers- Leslie Ann (Gary) Geiger of Menasha, WI, Carol (Ralph) Schroeder of West Salem, WI, Lynn Schmidt of Fredonia, WI, Laurel (Dick) Krenn of Madison,WI, and Kevin Bacher of Los Angeles, CA. His grandchildren- Joseph Bacher, Jacob Bacher, Ewan Ek, Lyla Bacher, Reed Bacher, and Oliver Bacher. Further survived by nieces & nephews other relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Nolan Ek and stillborn twins, nephew Philip Schroeder.

I'm Joel's second cousin,Joel's grandmother was my fathers aunt Sara Bacher. I worked three years on the farm on 60thst.when I was 13,14 &15. I spent evenings at the farm,and stayed overnight and went hunting with Joel on the farm,and feel bad about his passing.i had finally called to speak to him about his family tree and life on the farm.i was interested about when the backers started the farm on 60th st.and if anyone knows when kuflautz stared their farm on good hope road,and also if anyone knew when hachbarths started their homestead on Hampton ave.idid'nt know Joel passed away and I'm sorry for your loss Joel was a very friendly,and well respected. I am so glad Joel was a part of my life. He was a great influence in my work ethic. I'm glad he has such a wonderful wife, children and grandchildren. You will all be cherished in my deepest memories. Thank you and may God bless you all in the richest way. With deepest sympathy, Allan Gasiorowski.
