John E. Kohls, age 52, a life-long Dodge County resident, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Visitation for John will be at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at church on Wednesday, beginning at 2:00 PM. Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. A luncheon will be served at church immediately following the service. Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery just outside of Reeseville on Cty Hwy “I”.
John Edward Kohls was born on November 7, 1957 in Columbus, Wisconsin to the late Elmer and Marcella (Huber) Kohls. He attended both Waterloo and Dodgeland High School where he was active in the FFA and also showed heifers at the Dodge County Fair. John had worked for for Nehls Farms in Juneau and Continental Grain in Richwood before going to work for Luedtke Lumber in Lomira. He was a passionate Packer fan and he also enjoyed the Badgers and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed family gatherings and doing things with his family like playing cards or going to tractor pulls and auctions. John was a fine Christian man who was a member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon. He was a beloved brother, uncle and god father that will be dearly missed; his family thought the world of him.
Survivors include his sister, Beverly Drunasky of DePere; his brother, Richard (Linda) Kohls of Kekoskee; his nieces and nephews, Dan Drunasky of DePere, Kim (Tom) Allen and their children Anna and Kate, all of DePere, Heather (Mike) LaPine and their children Skyler and Cody, all of Fond du Lac, Michelle (Steve) Kopischke and their daughter Tiffany, all of Fond du Lac, and Mellissa (Corey) Schelvan and their children Matthew and Mason, all of Brownsville; his god son, Tyler Schmidt of Beaver Dam; his uncle, Herbert (Helen) Huber of Sun Prairie; many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Patricia MaryAnn Kohls and Eleanor Westphal; his brother-in-law, Rodney Drunasky; and his grandparents, Herman and Bertha Kohls and Michael and Mary Huber.
The family suggests that memorials be made in John E. Kohls” name to the Diabetes Foundation, American Heart Association, or St. Stephen Evangelcial Lutheran Church in Horicon.
