John Tarczewski, age 84, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his home in Fox Lake.
Visitation for John will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Fr. Michael L. Wild will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake.
John Tarczewski was born on June 11, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Walter and Mary (Sobieski) Tarczewski. He graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee in 1944 and then served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. John also served in the Naval Reserves from 1948 to 1952. He worked for the City of Milwaukee as a truck driver for the Department of Public Works. In 1971, he bought some property in Fox Lake and rebuilt the house. In 1986, after 31 years of employment, John retired from the City of Milwaukee and moved to Fox Lake. When he was younger, John enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially pheasant hunting; more recently, he enjoyed listening to public radio.
Survivors include his four brothers and sisters, Henry Tarczewski of Milwaukee, Helen Meitner of Port Washington, Joan Budlow of Milwaukee, and Eugene (JoAnn) Tarczewski of Sturgeon Bay; two sisters-in-law, Mary Tarczewski of Milwaukee and Mary Tarczewski of St. Francis; his neighbors, Tom and Kay Bednarek of Fox Lake; many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents. five brothers and sisters, Ann Cline, Edward Tarczewski, Walter Tarczewski, Robert Tarczewski, and George Tarczewski; a sister-in-law, Mary Tarczewski; and two brothers-in-law, Gerald Meitner and Bill Budlow.
