John Stratton Marthaler

April 15, 1921 - September 15, 2010

John “Duke” Marthaler, age 89, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home in Fox Lake.

Visitation for Duke will be at Annunciation Catholic Church, 305 W. Green Street in Fox Lake, on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Michael L. Wild will celebrate Mass. Burial will take place at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

John Stratton Marthaler was born on April 15, 1921 to the late Harry and Gertrude (Miller) Marthaler. On August 22, 1953, he was united in marriage with Joyce Zeltinger. Duke proudly served during World War II. He was a football fan of the Packers and Badgers and was an avid golfer. Duke belonged to the Fox Lake Country Club for over 45 years. He was a CPA and had a practice in Beaver Dam for several years.

Survivors include his daughter, Anne (Bill) Pfister of Madison, a brother, Harold (Ruth) Marthaler of Pennsylvania, a sister, Marlene (LeRoy) Wagner of Milwaukee, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 1994.

If desired, memorials may be made in John “Duke” Marthaler”s name to Annunciation Catholic Church.
