John W. Schmidt, age 63, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at UW Hospital in Madison.
Friends and family may gather on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 9:30 AM until the time of service. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton, with military honors provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146.
John Walter Schmidt was born on May 24, 1944 to the late Walter Ewald and Norma Bertha (Hartwig) Schmidt in Beaver Dam. In 1965, he joined the US Army and served until 1971. After the Army, John was employed at Monarch Range until 1987 and then went to work for Rumar Manufacturing until his retirement on April 1, 2007. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Packer games. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be missed by many.
John is survived by his two children, Tracy (Jonathan) Salisbury of Beaver Dam and Terry Schmidt of Wausau, his grandchildren, Dustyn Schmidt and Alexander Salisbury, both of Beaver Dam, his brother, James (Dolores) Birkholz of Beaver Dam, his three sisters, Joanne Bauer of Dunedin, FL, Judy (Richard) Krueger of Beaver Dam and June (Harvey) Martin of Waupun, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
