Keith Edward Gritt, age 74, of Horicon, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his home in Horicon with his wife and family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.A visitation will be at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Saturday at 12:00 noon with Fr. Mike Petrie officiating. Burial will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon. Military honors will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post # 157. Keith was born the son of Edward and Esther (Ruechel) Gritt on November 6, 1941 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was united in marriage on February 23, 1963 to Janet ‘Jan’ Kuchel at St. Joseph’s church in Appleton, WI. For over 50 years, Keith worked as a Barber in Black Creek, WI., Appleton, WI. and than the majority of his career in Horicon. He truly enjoyed all his work and the people that he came across. With his career he wasn’t able to travel as much as he would have liked but felt that his clients brought the world to him through their experiences and stories, for which he was grateful. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. Keith was also very active in his community of Horicon. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Lions Club, Horicon March Education Center, and the Horicon American Legion Post #157. In his spare time, he loved and cherished the time spent with his family and especially his grand and great grandchildren. Keith is survived by: His wife of 53 years- Janet. His children- Keith M. (Wendy) Gritt of Reedsburg, Kelly Kuhn of Beaver Dam, Wade (Heidi) Gritt of Arlington Heights, IL., Clint Gritt of Horicon, Heather (John) Vick of Sun Prairie, Kristin Gritt of Nashville, TN., Wyatt Gritt of Kodiak, AK, and Sweetpea of Horicon, WI. His siblings- Karen (Bert) Gietman, Eddie (Mary) Gritt, Mary (Jerry) Lawrence, Carolyn (Bruce) Fassbender, June (Terreson) Parr, Judy VerVoort, Christine Vander Zanden, Becky (Gary) Schaumberg, Steve Gritt, Michael, (Jeanne) Gritt, Kim (Bruce) Johnson, and Jennifer (Bob) Wagner. His grandchildren- Nick (Mary), Beth, Zachary, Josh, Josh ‘Porkchop’, A. J., Brandon (Beth), Brooke, Ryan, Molly, Claire, Danny, and Jessica. His great grandchildren- Charlie, Grahm, Marcus, Olivia, Jackson, Madison, Landyn, and Cooper. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
