Kyung Ae Martin, age 70, died on Friday, January 25, 2008, at UW Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her family.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service for Kyung will follow on Wednesday, with Rev. Bob Castro officiating. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
The former Kyung Ae Han was born on September 17, 1937 to the late P. and Lee Han in Korea. Kyung lived in the Seoul area of Korea throughout her childhood and became an orphan at the age of 13. When she was 16 she went to work on an US Army base, which is where she met Andrew Martin. Kyung always felt that he was her father figure, her husband and her best friend. They were united in marriage on June 29, 1959 in Korea. They soon had their first child, then moved to Wisconsin in 1960 and two more children followed. When the children went off to school, Kyung was employed at different factories in the Beaver Dam area. She worked for Weyenberg Shoe factory for 13 years and later worked at Chrysler for six years. The job that she loved most was being part of a family. She loved taking care of her three boys and always put their needs first. Kyung was a member of St. John”s Lutheran Church.
Kyung is survived by her three sons, Andy Martin, Beaver Dam, Jeff (Myrna) Martin, Beaver Dam and Mike Martin, Fond du Lac, her four grandchildren, Mindy Martin, Beaver Dam, Cory Martin, Fond du Lac, Ryan Martin, Whitewater and Adam Martin, Beaver Dam. She is also survived by her former daughters-in-law, Lori Martin, Beaver Dam and Amy Martin, Beaver Dam, other relatives and friends. Kyung is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Andrew, on May 11, 2001.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Kyung”s name to St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
