Lansing Eugene Tryon

July 4, 1921 - November 14, 2013

Lansing E. Tryon, age 92, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and formerly of Rochester, New York, died on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Charleston House Memory Care.

The memorial gathering will be at Charleston House Memory Care in the Great Room on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dave Dykstra officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the John E. Miller, American Legion Post #146. There will also be a service at Rochester Christian Reformed Church in Penfield, New York at a later date with inurnment at Oak Wood Cemetery in Penfield.

Lansing Eugene Tryon was born on July 4, 1921 in North Syracuse, New York to Frank S. and Margaret (Mann) Tryon. On June 26, 1948 he was united in marriage with Barbara L. Bassemir in Patchogue, New York. Lansing received his bachelor degree in Physics from Cornell University. He went on to earn his masters degree in Geology from New York University. Lansing worked as an electrical engineer and a computer programmer at Stromberg Carlson in Rochester. In 2009, he and Barbara moved to Beaver Dam where they made their home at Charleston House. Lansing enjoyed singing with the choir and photography. He volunteered much of his time at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara of Beaver Dam, WI; children, Steve (Corky) Tryon of Rochester, NY, Marty Slager of Beaver Dam, WI, Chuck (Suzanne) Tryon of Fayetteville, GA, Liz (Joe) Hupp of Northfield, IL, Ken (Chris) Tryon of Rochester, NY, Janet (Jeff) Geiger of Aurora, IL; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and one brother.

I worked with Lance at Edmac Associates in the 1980''s. He was always such an inspiration - always friendly, always willing to help out. I will always remember how he started each morning with a steaming hot cup of water. He always told me it was good for your health.
