LaVerne Bujanovich of St. George, UT passed away on June 8, 2015 at the age of 101. She was born on February 10, 1914 in Mayville, WI to Edward and Bertha Bartsch. LaVerne was married to Nick Bujanovich on February 14, 1941 in Mayville, WI. Until her last day LaVerne was a Mayville girl at heart. From childhood until 2003 she was a Mayville resident. She attended Mayville Public schools and graduated from Mayville High School in 1930. She had a fun loving spirit and loved to dance. After graduation she worked in Thiel’s law office and then the State Bank of Mayville. She was involved in many civic and social clubs in Mayville. She was president of the original Mayville Junior Women’s Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Mayville Historical Society. She also served on the Board of Directors of Purity Cheese Company after her husband, Nick, passed in 1971. LaVerne loved to golf and was a member of the Mayville Golf Club. She was an avid bridge player and often played several times a week. She had a wide circle of friends and entertained them often in her home. LaVerne loved to travel and has visited nearly all of the States. After Nick died she traveled to Europe several times. She most enjoyed being around her friends and family. Her dear friends brought her much joy and happiness throughout her life. In 2003 she began to live full time in Mesa, AZ after wintering there for many years. She was able to pursue her love of golf and bridge but she was also a spiritual woman. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church in Mayville, Mesa and St. George. She loved the Lord and all of his children. She was generous in her giving to her church and many other worthy charities. On the day before she died she told her son Nick that she wanted to go on a trip and he said ” the only trip you are going on is the one to heaven”. She smiled and she knew. She is survived by her two sons, Nick (Mary) of St. George, UT and Mark of Imnaha, OR. Three grandchildren, Nickolas Bujanovich of Denver, CO., Alison Bujanovich of Baltimore, MD and Paul Bujanovich of Columbus, IN. The family would like to thank the loving, caring staff at Sterling Court Assisted Living and the wonderful staff at Dixie Hospice. Each and every one of them made her part of their family.A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. George. The date and time of the service is to be determined. Graveside services at Graceland Cemetery, Mayville, WI will take place at a later date.
