LaVerne G. Hinkes, age 90, of Knowles, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017 at the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 31 at 12 noon at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery in LeRoy.LaVerne was born the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Adelmeyer) Zangl on October 2, 1927. She was a graduate of Mayville High School. On June 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to Melvin Hinkes at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. She had farmed together with her husband Melvin in Knowles and also worked for AT&T for 30 years until retirement. She was faithful member at St. Andrew Catholic Church and volunteered in many capacities. LaVerne was also active in the Knowles Fire Department Auxiliary and the Lomira Legion Auxiliary. LaVerne is survived by her children- Patricia Zimmer of Fond du Lac, and Gail Froemming of Pensacola, FL. Her special friend- William Marchant. Her 3 grandchildren- Steven (Special friend Sara Lentz) Odette, Ann Marie Froemming-Crow, and Benjamin Froemming. Her 2 great grandchildren- Breanna Crow and Oliver Odette. Her sister- Carol (Patrick) Zimmer of Lake Mills.
