Lawrence E. Beyer, age 83, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Horicon, died on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Hillside Manor, in Beaver Dam.
The visitation for Lawrence will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Robert Castro will officiate. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Lawrence Elmer Beyer was born on October 17, 1924, to the late Henry and Henrietta (Hazen) Beyer, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1942 and furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Lawrence entered into the United States Army and was stationed in France during WWII. He was wounded and received the Purple Heart. Upon his return, he became employed by John Deere as an inspector . On June 20, 1953, he was united in marriage with Caroline Bessette, in Beaver Dam. Lawrence retired from John Deere in 1986. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, softball and spending time with his faithful dog, Shana.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Caroline Beyer of Beaver Dam, his step daughters, Sharon Yelczyn of Beaver Dam, Karen Belcastro (Fred Bohn) of Fox Lake, his son-in-law, Harry Jahnz of Wild Rose, 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, three nephews, Lester Hilsher of Ripon, Henry Hilsher of Ripon and Scott Hilsher of Markesan, his niece, Pat Lisko of Beaver Dam, two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Kreger of Horicon and Ruby Bessette of Beaver Dam, family friend, Lawrence Yelczyn of Rolling Prairie, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step daughter, Carol Jean Jahnz, a step-son, Wayne Teletzke, a grandson, Dean Jahnz, a great grandson, Sean Jahnz, his sister, Mary Jane Hilsher, his brother, Lloyd Beyer, a niece, Faye Hilsher, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ambrose and Lavina Bessette, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Stankiewcz, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Bessette.
