to the LEE R HARDESTY FAMILY---ALTHO LEE''S PASSING WAS NOT A COMPLETE SURPRISE, THE OBITUARY PROVIDES A TYPE OF FINALITY. SO BE IT! I WAS ASSISGNED TO THE PED IN JANUARY, 1973 AS WAS RONALD K LEONARD, MGF OF PED. LEE WAS A VERY OUTGONING PERSON, SO IT DIDN''T TAKE LONG FOR HIM TO BECOME KNOWN THRUOUT THE DEPT AND THE DESIGN GROUP. FOR THE MOST PART, HE SPENT MORE TIME IN JAPAN THAN HE DID AT HIS WORK STATION. I DUBBED HIM "HORSEPOWER" HARDESTY. HIS OKEY ACCENT MADE IT SOUND LIKE HORSEPAAR! ANYWAY, WE USUALLY SAT NEAR OR NEXT TO LEE AND JOY AT SEVERAL OF THE PED PARTIES. I USED TO TEASE HIM ABOUT HIS COWBOY BOOTS. HE ASKED ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO TRY HIS ON--WHICH I DID AND DANCED WITH MY WIFE. ALTHO I RETIRED IN 1986, I LIVED ON S. HUBBARD STREET AND ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO HARVEST SEASON WHEN LEE WOULD DRIVE THE BEANS, CORN, OATS OR WHATEVER TO THE STORAGE UNITS ON THE WEST SIDE OF HORICON. WE WERE ALL SADDENED TO LEARN OF HIS ILLNESS AND DID NOT SEE HIM AFTER THAT TIME. MOST OF GUYS AT THE COFFEE TABLE AT MOTHER''S DAY RESTAURANT KNEW HIM OR KNEW OF HIM. HE WAS A GREAT AGRI-BUSINESSMAN AND A FRIEND. JOY---YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL NOT BE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WILL MISS HIM. HE WAS TRULY A FRIEND TO MANY PEOPLE. SORRY, BUT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE SERVICE OR THE GATHERING AT THE OLD HICKORY GOLF COURSE BUT WANTED ALL OF YOU TO KNOW THAT MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. R G

To the Lee Hardesty Family, Please accept my sympathy for the great loss you have experienced. Hardesty-san was a good friend. More than 35 years ago he came to Japan to start business with our company and became very good friends with my father, Dr. Kojiro Yamaoka, and Kanzaki. I so much appreciate all he did for our company. Through his efforts and relationship many new products were created, and in turn, many new jobs. His efforts have blessed many people through our company and we are greatly appreciative for this. We have enjoyed a very long relationship with Hardesty-san and he will be missed. Sincerely, Yasuyuki Yamaoka President, Kanzaki Kokyukoki Mfg Osaka Japan

My sincerest condolences on the passing of Mr. Hardesty. It was a privilege to know him and my biggest regret was not knowing him better as he was always highly regarded by anyone who was fortunate enough to work with him. My heart goes out to the Hardesty family on the passing of a man who was obviously a fine husband, father, and man.

Tuff Torq Corporation left a message on June 10, 2010:
Tuff Torq Corporation would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Hardesty Family. Lee played a major role working with Kanzaki to create a manufacturing location in the United States. It was he who came up with the name "Tuff Torq" for our company. He played a key role in the relationship between Kanzaki and John Deere and the initial development of products we manufacture here at Tuff Torq. Lee had a great engineering mind and excellent character and integrity. It was always a pleasure to work with him and all of us at Tuff Torq really appreciate all that he did for our company. We still use one of his famous phrases regularly here and that is "All talkie talkie and no doie doie". Lee was a great person and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardesty family as they morn the loss of Lee Hardesty. Sincerely, The Tuff Torq Corporation Morristown Tennessee
