Leona E. Rhodes, age 91, formerly of Reeseville, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Zinzendorf Hall in Watertown.
The visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Donald Steinberg officiating. Burial will be at Reeseville Cemetery.
The former Leona Elsie Krakow was born on November 6, 1921 in Waterloo, Wisconsin to Herman and Martha (Zabel) Krakow. On September 11, 1937 she was united in marriage in Waterloo to Rueben Gallitz. He preceded her in death and Leona later married William Rhodes on August 16, 1969 in Reeseville. She worked for Baso in Watertown and Lau Fiberglass in Reeseville. She later worked for many years at Chrysler in Beaver Dam.
Leona was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Debra (Tom) Schmitz of Brookfield; grandchildren, Randall (Julie) Gartland of Miami, FL, Lisa (Tony) Palumbo of TX, Cindy Gallitz of Beaver Dam, Thomas (Kathy) Gallitz of Jefferson, Michael (fiancAC.e, Lisa Vehlow) Gallitz of Reeseville, Cathy Gallitz of Jefferson, Tim Gallitz of Helenville, Matthew Schmitz of Madison, Natalie Schmitz of Brookfield, and Evan Schmitz of Brookfield; eight great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; a daughter, Betty Gartland; a son, Eugene Gallitz; and a sister, Dorothy Filter.
If desired, memorials may be made in Leona E. Rhodes” name to the Alzheimer”s Association, Immanuel Lutheran Church, or to Marquardt Village in Watertown.
