Leonard F. Dietz, Jr., age 55, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home.

The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Leonard Francis Dietz, Jr. was born on June 17, 1955 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Leonard and Lucille Dietz. On January 26, 1974, he was united in marriage with Mary Wachter at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Leonard worked for Kumba”s Hardware Store in Beaver Dam for more than 10 years. He also volunteered for the Beaver Dam Fire Department for many years. Other than being a devoted husband and dad, his main career was working at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution for over 20 years, retiring in 2005. While working at the institution, he received numerous awards and was ranked as Captain. Leonard was also an avid Packer fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Weier of Beaver Dam, “da boyz”, James Dietz and Matthew Dietz, both of Beaver Dam, grandchildren, Tifany Dietz, Alyson Weier and Makenzie Vlach, sister, Corrine Christman of Beaver Dam and brother, Dennis (Virginia) Dietz of Texas, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

I am so sorry for your lost. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news. Lenny was a wonderful friend to my mother. He was a very kind and giving man. I liked him very much. On Tuesday, before I heard the news, I was thinking of him and remembering how sweet he was to my family. The last time I saw him was at my wedding 6 years ago. My condolences go out to his family, especially his children. I am currently living in Pennsylvania and won''t be able to be at the funeral, but I will be thinking of you all tomorrow and praying for you.
