Visitation: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10th at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Lillian L. Kading, 92, of Elkhart Lake, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 5, 2013, in her apartment home at Cedar Bay Assisted Living in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Lillian Kading will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, W3694 Cty FF, rural Plymouth, WI. with the Rev. Frederick Trost officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10th at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A reception and light lunch will be held at the Cedar Bay Clubhouse, 101 Cedar Lane, Elkhart Lake from 12-2 p.m. on July 10th. Burial will be on Thursday, July 11th at the Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Wisconsin.

Lillian Lorraine Lucille Bramer was born on August 9, 1920 the daughter of Melvin and Ellen (Bohnert) Bramer in Dodge County. She was the 1938 salutatorian of Juneau High School, and worked as a stenographer for the Clifford Law Office in Juneau. On September 24, 1939, she was married to Milton J. Kading in Juneau. They farmed the Kading farm outside Lowell in Dodge County for 15 years. Lillian fulfilled her dream of marrying a minister when they left the farm and moved to Sheboygan County where Milton attended Lakeland College and Mission House Seminary. She worked by her husband’s side serving parishes, first the Russell and Rhine Churches in rural Elkhart Lake, and subsequently at UCC churches in Savanna and Lena, Illinois, and New Albin, Iowa. In 1987 Lillian and Milton retired and moved back to Beaver Dam.

Lillian was a faithful member of the First United Church of Christ of Lowell. Lillian enjoyed flower gardening, houseplants, knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking, music, baseball, card playing, walking and reading. After retirement, she and her husband revived their love of square dancing, and always had a beloved house cat. In 2008, as her eyesight left her, Lillian moved to Elkhart Lake where she stayed active walking, enjoying card games and talking books on tape, and put in many hours on the telephone keeping in touch with her many, many friends. As one of the first residents of Cedar Bay Assisted Living she was affectionately known as the camp counselor, always having a kind word and helping to acclimate and assist her neighbors there.

Lillian is survived by her daughters: Virginia (Robert) Koepsel of Chippewa Falls, Marjean (Charles) Pountain of Elkhart Lake and Tina (David) Fritsch of Dayton; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milton in 2006, her son John, one granddaughter and two sisters.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Cedar Bay Assisted Living for their wonderful and loving care of Lillian. She was so happy living there.

We are sorry to hear of your loss. Lillian was a rare gem. Joe and Gary had such good times playing Kings Corners and Ouch with Lillian and Mom (Helen Welch)down in her apartment. She had such beautiful flowers by her patio. Some times I had to fill in also. Really enjoyed visiting Lillian and watching Nellie.

Hello friend, You and I have never met in person, and yet we are a part of the same family... the family that exists among the ordained clergy and their families. I am an ordained pastor, and I know how vital my wife is to my ministry. She reminds me to be humble, that I am not as perfect as others might think their pastor is, and that although the days are long and not always the most enjoyable she is with me for the long haul. I pray that my young sons appreciate what my wife and I do for them, and how our life as a clergy family can be a beautiful thing too. Please know that I am praying with you in your time of loss, and that I am quite certain there is certainly a special celebration for folks like your mom in Heaven.

Our thoughts and prayers and sympathy are with Lillian's family. She was a special person. She kept in contact for all these years since their Town of Rhine ministry with an amazing memory. I know in my heart she is dancing with Rev. and that makes me smile. The world needs more wonderful souls.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I lived across the street from Lillian at Briarwood Cottages. She was a very wonderful person. I enjoyed having her as a neighbor and friend.

A bright light had just gone out in your world...and in the lives of those who knew Lillian. She was a kind lady, perfect for God's work. Hold on to the fact that where a beautiful soul has been...beautiful memories remain. And may the memories comfort you in this time of sorrow.
