Lorraine D. Nehls, 90, of Juneau passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau with the Rev. Paul Schupmann officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in the town of Oak Grove. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church.Lorraine Dornfeld was born on August 10, 1926, in Hustisford, the daughter of Alex and Meta (Lindert) Dornfeld. She attended Bethany Lutheran grade school and graduated from Hustisford High School in 1944. On May 10, 1952 she married Orville Nehls at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Town of Hubbard. They were blessed to share 64 years of marriage. Religion and Christian education were important to Lorraine. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, and enjoyed Bible classes. She was a former choir member and a volunteer for St. John’s Church and School for many years. Lorraine had been employed at Citizens Bank of Juneau, Juneau Public Library, and various waitress jobs. She was a former co-chairperson and volunteer for many years at Bethesda Country Store in Horicon. She was known as the Button Lady at the store, as she (with her husband’s help) was in charge of the button area for many years. She was well known for rummage sales, having had one every year for approximately 45 consecutive years. She loved to enter items at the Dodge County Fair, and entered for over 40 years. She liked doing ceramics, crafts, jigsaw puzzles, taking bus tours, and having family members visit. She was a good seamstress and made clothes for Barbie and other various dolls for many years. She will be deeply missed by her husband Orville; children – Joy Schliewe, Beaver Dam, Jane (Randall) Neumann, Minneapolis MN, Lynn (Patrick) Ireland, Lebanon, Lori (Ronald) Riveira, Tacoma WA, John (Vonda) Nehls, Juneau; 14 grandchildren- Dulcinea, Amanda, Christopher, & Benjamin Galaviz; Nicholas Neumann, Andrea Neumann (Jeremy Courcelle); Anthony (Katie) Ireland, Amber (Rev. Benjamin) Enstad; Alex (Angela) Riveira, Nathan Riveira (Esther Shon); Jason, Justin, Jacob & Jeremy Nehls, step-grandchild Ronnie Riveira, 9 great grandchildren – Joseph, Autumn, & Braydon Beeney, Skye & Elliott Galaviz, Jerdrick Courcelle, Shawn Ireland, Asher Enstad, Nathaniel Riveira, step great grandchild Kalani Riveira; sisters – Norma Falkenthal, Marian (Robert) Scharnell; sisters & brothers in law-Delores Karel, Jean Nehls, Janice (Edward) Wolfram, Lois Dornfeld; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers – Donald and Merlin; sisters & brothers in law – Rosemary Dornfeld, Gilbert Falkenthal, Norman & Nina Nehls, Darwin & Doris Bremer, Russell & Lorraine M. Nehls, Wayne Nehls, and Donald Karel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lakeside Lutheran High School, or Calvary Academy.
