Luan I. Kowalsky

February 4, 1918 - April 29, 2008

Luan Kowalsky was born Feb. 4, 1918 in Buffalo County, Wisconsin to Ben and Lillian (Christ) Tickfer. She married Benjamin Kowalsky May 3, 1938 in Arcadia, Wi. She was a farmer and homemaker until 1960 when she started employment as a cook at Arcadia Public Schools. She worked there 28 years retiring in 1987.

She is survived by one daughter, Dona Fritzel of Horicon and two granddaughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Schilcher of Appleton and Megan Fritzel of Horicon. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Murial, two brothers Morris and Redmond, her husband Ben,and her son-in-law, Michael Fritzel.

After her stroke in 1998 she moved to Horicon and lived with Dona for 6 years and at Horicon Manor Assisted Living for 3 years. She loved birds, gardening and cooking and car rides as well as Bingo.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 3:00 PM. Rev. Jonathan Szczesny will officiate. Inurnment will be in Arcadia, Wisconsin.
