Lyall J. Metke, 85 years old, of Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, WI.Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, with the Rev. James Mallmann and Rev. Sean Willman officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Mayville.Lyall was born the son of Alvin “Pete” and Rose (Raue) Metke on September 23, 1929 in Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Mayville High School. Lyall was united in marriage to Audrey I. Siewert on October 24, 1954. Lyall was the past Post Master of the Mayville Post Office. Lyall was lovingly known as “Buppa” to his grandchildren. Lyall was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, where he served as an usher and as an Elder. He was a member of St. John School Board, the Church Choir, and St. John Beautification Committee. He was the delegate of the National Missionary Synod Convention in California. Lyall was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an artist and especially enjoyed painting cartoons. Lyall was survived by his wife Audrey of Mayville; his children- Wendy Metke of Mayville, Timothy (Natalie) Metke of Hermitage, TN, and Michelle Kuhn of Greendale, WI; his sisters & brothers- Rosemond Zuelsdorf of Mayville, Dudley (Phyllis) Metke of Franksville, WI, Rosalie Wagner of South Milwaukee, David (Jenny) Metke of Mayville, and Michael (Donna) Metke of Tyler, TX; his grandchildren- Zachery (Rebecca) Kuhn, Tony Metke, Tommy Metke, Andrea Metke, and Ashley Metke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lyall is preceded in death by his parents.
