Julie Rogers left a message on December 23, 2011:
I first met Mabel at the B.D. Hospital cafeteria. A kind-faced, little old lady sitting by herself. My sister and I asked her to join us. We were immediately given the gift of "Mabel". Her humor, feisty demeanor, and rough-edged stories had us doubled over, howling with laughter. Mabel remembered our parents as well as all Beaver Dam residents! She shared some tragic times and quickly brushed them aside with a twinkle in her eyes, saying, "whadaya gonna do?" Never feeling sorry for herself. She was a beautiful treasure with a true "survivors spirit". A real jewel of history has passed. It warms my heart to think she''s with Jesus and her heavenly family but we will truly miss her.

Pearo Ackles left a message on December 21, 2011:
We enjoyed Mabel and her spunkiness, her stories, and her smile. My mother-in-law, Barbara Hudson, who lives with us, especially felt a kinship to her, and would stop by her home on her morning walks. The Seventh-day Adventist Church, which Mabel attended from time-to-time, will miss her too. We wish to tell the family, and I especially would like to tell Audrey and Greg - we''re sorry for their loss.
