Margaret M. Gernetzke, age 88, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Reeseville, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Margaret will be at Holy Family Catholic Church in Reeseville on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Fr. Jerome Rinzel will officiate. Burial will be at Reeseville Cemetery.
The former Margaret Mary Lacaeyse was born on April 24, 1923 in Astico, Wisconsin to the late Edmund and Emilie (Rogiers) Lacaeyse. On October 18, 1941, she was united in marriage with Harold Gernetzke in Reeseville. Margaret lived in Reeseville until she moved to Beaver Dam in 1990. She volunteered at the Beaver Dam Care Center for many years and she had been active with the Beaver Dam Senior Center. Margaret was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam and had been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church when she lived in Reeseville. She was also a member of Pathfinders, NAIAM, the Good Samaritan Guild and the Catholic Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Schmitt of Beaver Dam and Lori (David) Bishop of Fountain, CO; two sons, Ronald (Mary Ellen) Gernetzke of Sun Prairie and Daniel (Joyce) Gernetzke of Blue Springs, MO; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her twin sister, Helen Bickel of Watertown and her sister Gabriel Kohl of Beaver Dam; a son-in-law, James Griffin of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Elaine Griffin; a brother, Cyril (Helen) Lacaeyse; a son-in-law, Gerald Schmitt, an uncle, Cyril Rogiers; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Bickel and Gordon Kohl.
If desired, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Reeseville or St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.
