Margaret R. Schmidt, age 88, of Reeseville, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Sylvan Crossing in Beaver Dam.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There will also be a visitation at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Vander Galien officiating. Burial will be at Reeseville Cemetery.
The former Margaret Rose Freson was born on May 3, 1924 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin to John and Clara (Ambrose) Freson. On October 5, 1940 she was united in marriage with Lawrence Edwin Schmidt in Iowa. Together, they operated a dairy farm in Hubbleton. After selling the farm, they moved to Reeseville and purchased the grocery store in Lowell, operating it for several years. Margaret enjoyed fishing, her flowers, and gardening. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was a past president of the Ladies Aid. Margaret touched several lives and will be missed by many.
Survivors are her children, Judy (Richard) Eicksteadt of Reesville, Linda Sornson of Reeseville, Robert (Angela) Schmidt of Watertown, and John (Margaret) Schmidt of Reeseville; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Sayles; brothers, James Freson, Robert (Lillian) Freson, Dean (Shirley) Freson, and Jerry (Millie) Freson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, John, Harold, Donald, Eugene, Raymond, and LeRoy; and a great grandson, Leeum Schmidt.
