Margaret V. Westphal

Margaret V. Westphal, age 89, of Horicon, WI passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital in Beaver Dam.A funeral service for Margaret will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 12 p.m. (noon) at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon with Rev. Jonathon Szczesny officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, from 11 a.m. till 12 p.m. (noon) at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon. Margaret was born on February 2, 1926 the daughter of Cornelius and Marie (nee Lackas) Scholtes. She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Westphal, Sr. on February 15, 1947 at St. John’s Browns Corners. She farmed with her husband’s family in the township of Herman. She also cleaned in the Horicon area for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon where she was an active member. She also volunteered at the Horicon Food Pantry as well as Bethesda. Margaret is survived by her children- Vernon Westphal, Jr. of Horicon and Arlene (Richard) Hartwig of Mayville. Her step sister Agnes (Phillip) Zimmerman. She is further survived by other relatives & friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernon, Sr. and 2 children in infancy, also 11 brothers and sisters.Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.
