Marvin G. Miller, age 91, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Marvin will be at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral services will follow at church on Tuesday at 11:30 AM with Pastor Doug Loving officiating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at church. Burial will follow the luncheon at Bethany Cemetery.
Marvin George Miller was born on September 6, 1918 in the Town of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late William and Mabel (Guenther) Miller. He was an active member of the FFA while in Beaver Dam High School and graduated with the class of 1936. In his youth, Marvin enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting with his black Labrador retrievers and he enjoyed fishing. On September 24, 1948, he was united in marriage with the former Elsie Gertrude “Trudy” Boss. Marvin farmed in the Beaver Dam area throughout his life but was best known for running Miller”s Apple Orchard. He began planting apple trees when he was 18 years old and was still climbing apple trees well into his 70”s. Marvin loved black Labrador retrievers and was partial to naming them “Mike”; he also enjoyed watching the birds and gardening. He was a long-time fan of the Chicago White Sox and was also a Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. Marvin was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam, the Dodge County Farm Bureau, Dodge County Dairy Testing Association, and Dodge County Holstein Association.
Survivors include his wife Elsie Gertrude “Trudy” Miller of Beaver Dam; his four children, Steven (Patricia) Miller, Stuart (Judi) Miller, Scott (Gloria) Miller, all of Beaver Dam, and Sherri (James) Wisnoski of Lakeville, MN; his grandchildren, Nicole (Aaron) Gruenewald, Mandy (Andrew) Bibo, William (Amber) Miller, Jaime Miller (Troy Stofflet), Nathan (Katie) Miller, Andrew Miller, Michelle Miller, Ana Miller, Jacqueline Wisnoski, Michael Wisnoski, Jennifer Wisnoski, and Brian Wisnoski; his great grandchildren, Liam Gruenewald, Colin Gruenewald, Genesis Miller, Autumn Miller-Sitas, Lillian Miller, Logan Miller, and Savannah Pahl. He was preceded in death by his parents.
If desired, memorials may be made in Marvin Miller”s name to Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam, Hillside Home Care/Hospice, or to the charity of your choice.
