Mary C. Stangl, age 92, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Mary will be at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 10:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Fr. Tom Perrin, SDS will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
The former Mary C. Kiefer was born on November 13, 1920 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late John and Lovina (Dietz) Kiefer. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School, Class of 1938. On February 19, 1946, she was united in marriage with Ben Stangl in Beaver Dam. Through the years, Mary worked at Penney”s, Newton-Wenz, and Piggly Wiggly, all in Beaver Dam. In her retirement years, Mary was active in the Beaver Dam Senior Center, the Meals on Wheels Program, and she volunteered at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau and the Beaver Dam Care Center. She was also a member of the Beaver Dam Community Hospital Auxiliary. Mary was a life-long member of St. Peter”s Catholic Church where she was active with the Catholic Women, Daughters of Isabella, and sang with the funeral choir. She liked the theater, she liked to dance, and because of her love of music, she sang in several choirs. Mary also liked sports and was a fan of the Packers, the Badgers, and the Brewers.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn Porter of Beaver Dam, Elizabeth (Bruce) Riggs of Tomah, John (Cathy) Stangl of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1979; sisters, Ruth Vinslauski and Agnes Tuel; her niece, Karen Logue; her parents-in-law, Carl & Marie Stangl; sister-in-law, Ruth Coleman; brothers-in-law, Clarence Vinslauski, Raymond Polenska, Robert Tuel, Warren Coleman, and Robert Stangl.
Mary”s family would like to thank the Golden Living Center and Asera Care Hospice for the care they provided.
