Mary Esther Carpenter (nee Byrne), 67 years old, of Mayville, passed away into God’s loving care on Tuesday, March 7 at The Pavilion at Glacier Valley in Slinger.A visitation for Mary will take place on Saturday, March 11 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Apostles Catholic Church at 16000 West National Avenue in New Berlin. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Father Don Thimm celebrating the Mass. A private inurnment will be conducted by the immediate family at a later date.Mary was born the daughter of Everett and Esther (Lyon) Byrne on February 3, 1950 in New Berlin, WI. She attended St. Mary’s Academy High School in Milwaukee, and St. Norbert’s College in West De Pere, where she met and was later married to Ronald Carpenter of Aurora, IL, on June 23, 1973. Mary was a gifted and devoted teacher, and taught grade school in the New Berlin school system and at the Catholic grade schools in Lomira and Theresa. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. Mary was a gifted musician and pianist. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and travelling with her husband and children, especially weekends in Eagle River, WI. Mary had a kind, loving spirit that touched everyone around her. She is survived by: her husband- Ronald Carpenter; her children- Julie (Donald) Foss and Kristen (Kris) Wampole; her brothers- Paul (Mary Beth), Peter (Laurie), Patrick (Cathy), and her sister- Alice (Jim Olson); her grandchildren- Aria Carpenter, Brayden Wampole and Madison Wampole; and numerous relatives and friends.Mary was preceded in death by her parents.In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at 1120 James Drive, Suite A Hartland, WI 53029.
