Mary Esther Klomberg (nee Persha), 83, died peacefully and joined her beloved “Jerry” in Eternal Life on Thursday, February 8th, at her home in Beaver Dam with her children by her side. Private family services will be held. Mary was born on October 4, 1934, in Mayville to the late Michael and Esther (nee Pufahl) Persha. After graduating from Horicon High School in 1952, Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Primary Education from the Wisconsin State College in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She worked as a first grade teacher in several schools in the Milwaukee area. She also taught at Lincoln and Washington Schools in Beaver Dam before leaving her formal teaching career and becoming a stay-at-home mother. After all the children were grown, Mary found a new purpose and worked at Jerry’s medical office in the insurance/billing department. Mary met her soul mate, Jerry Klomberg in their eighth-grade confirmation class from St. Stephen in Horicon, Wisconsin. They married on August 10, 1958 while Jerry was finishing medical school. Their love and commitment to each other was truly inspirational. Their reunion must have been amazing. Mary dedicated her life to raising her four children and later spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Mary was an amazing cook and took great pride in hosting family dinners, family Christmas parties, Packer parties, and gatherings just for fun. Mary also cherished her time that she spent at their cabin “up north” with her family. She enjoyed sitting by the lake with her children and grandchildren. She and Jerry loved their cabin and would sit for hours on the porch watching the sunset and listening to the loons. She loved to travel and was always ready to pack a suitcase and see new places. Survivors include her four children, Kurt (Anne) Klomberg of Horicon, Peter Klomberg of Beaver Dam, Heidi (Scott) Martin of Horicon, and Kristin (John Jarmain) Klomberg of Horicon; seven grandchildren, Emma (Alex) Momich, Martha Klomberg, Lukkas Klomberg, Maddy Klomberg, Caleb Martin, Ciara Jarmain, and Alec Jarmain; her sister, Charlotte (Rich) Burrow of Horicon, sister-in-law Betty Pfister (Bob Walber) of Green Bay, and many other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved “Jerry” on August 19, 2017, her parents, and a grandson, Jacob Scott Martin. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Pastor Mark Wenzel for his visits and his comforting words. We would also like to thank the dedicated staff at Hillside Hospice Care for all the support and assistance and thank the many caregivers for helping bring joy and comfort to Mary and her family. If desired, memorials may be sent to Koepsell Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam WI 53916 in the name of Mary E. Klomberg for Hillside HomeCare Hospice, Peace Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association. “There is one thing Alzheimer’s cannot take away-and that is love. Love is not a memory-it’s a feeling that resides in your heart and soul.” Rest in peace, Mom, until we meet again.
