Melvin R. Hamann, age 87, of Reeseville, died on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
The visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery, Town of Lowell, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Melvin Rodell Hamann was born on September 15, 1923 in the Town of Lowell, Dodge County, Wisconsin to William and Esther (Kohls) Hamann. He was a 1941 graduate of Reeseville High School. On February 14, 1949, he was united in marriage with Vivian Roggenbauer in Dubuque, Iowa. Melvin farmed in the Township of Lowell all of his life. Even in his elder years, he would supervise over his son and grandson from his four-wheeler. Melvin loved to travel and was able to travel to many places which included China, Australia, Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, and Canada. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served as County Supervisor for one year and was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian of Reeseville, daughter-in-law, Sharon Hamann of Reeseville, grandchildren, Thomas (Erin) Hamann of Reeseville and Beth (Ken) Eckert of Beaver Dam, great grandchildren, Tristan, Ethan, and Aidan “Gator” Hamann, and Noah and Faith Eckert, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Mark, grandson, Matthew, and a sister, Bernice.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Melvin”s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, N2296 Cty I, Reeseville, WI, 53579.
