Nancy C. Schwantes

Nancy Caroline Goodearle Schwantes, 85 years old, of Horicon, WI, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, at her home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Sandra Schieble officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. also at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville. Inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.Nancy was born to Clayton J. and Ruth A. (Emery) Goodearle on November 16, 1932 at their family home in Oconomowoc, WI. She was united in marriage on October 5, 1957 to Leslie A. Schwantes at the First Methodist Episcopal Church, Oconomowoc. After graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1950 and attending Milwaukee State Teachers College, she was employed by the Wisconsin Telephone Company as a customer representative. After her marriage she moved to Horicon, WI. Nancy then worked as a teacher’s aide for the Horicon School District. She was also a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Horicon, where she served many positions. Nancy was also employed by the Sears and Roebuck stores in Beaver Dam and Mayville, WI. She was also a volunteer at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Most importantly Nancy was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved to travel and shop, and also enjoyed crafting. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Nancy is survived by: her husband Leslie; her 2 daughters Karen Meinke and Brenda (Jack) Utzerath; her 4 grandchildren Emily (Andrew) Muir, Chelsea Utzerath, Andrea Meinke, and Chris (Julia) Meinke; her great granddaughter Aubree Anne Meinke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law Floyd Meinke.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
