Nicholas “Nick” Kohler, 102 years old, of Mayville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville with Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Mayville with graveside military rites to be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post # 69.Nicholas was born on December 5, 1913 to Matthew and Katherine (Pfieffer) Kohler in Akron, OH. Nick was married to Eva E. Gergetz on May 3, 1941 in Mayville, WI.Nick was employed by and retired from Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Beaver Dam, WI and also owned and operated Kohler’s Greenhouse in Mayville for 25 yearsNick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, he served in the U.S Army Air Force during W.W. 2, also a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69, Nick and his wife enjoyed their Christmas tree farm in Waupaca and their cottage on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward, WI, Nick was a avid hunter , fisherman and gardener Nick is survived by his daughter Sandi Luehring, and her children, Nick’s grandchildren Tommy, Sarah, and Michael Luehring also his special bond with his two dogs Mollie and Piper. Nick is preceded in death by his wife Eva in 2014 and brothers and sisters.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your father and grandfather, and my Uncle Nick. I have happy memories of summers spent at the Waupaca farm helping Nick trim Christmas trees, cutting and transporting trees to Mayville for sale in the early winter, and riding snowmobiles later in the winter.
