Philip D. Hewitt, 74, a lifelong resident of the Township of Elba passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home.
A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Daniel Sims officiating. Interment will take place Okeeg Cemetery, Township of Elba with military honors to be conducted.
Philip Dean was born the son of Paul and Celia (Mueller) Hewitt on April 24, 1939 in Columbus. He was married to Lois Schroeder on November 27, 1965 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Columbus. Philip was a graduate of Columbus High School and attended UW-Madison. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Philip was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Philip is survived by his three sons: Brett (Lisa) Hewitt of Fall River, Scott (Michelle) Hewitt of Portage and Jarett (Sarah) Hewitt of Ixonia; eight grandchildren: Brittany, Mitchell, Cassandra, Grace, Benjamin, Elsie, Anna and Emma; five step-grandchildren: Alex, Courtney, Wesly, Shea and Sawyer; four great-grandchildren: Natalie, Hayley, Kylie, and Blake; two sisters-in-law: Carmen Hewitt of Beaver Dam and Susan Hewitt of Columbus; his brother-in-law, Roger Heyroth of Madison; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Heather in infancy, two brothers: Donald and James and two sisters: Charlotte Heyroth and Barbara Powers.
