Rachel Mary Hammons

Rachel M. Hammons, age 39, of Fond du Lac, died on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at her home.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.
The former Rachel Mary Helmer, was born on February 23, 1970, to the late Merrlin and Mary (Lentz) Helmer, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. On September 1, 1990, she was united in marriage with John Hammons at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Horicon. Rachel was a great lover of animals, especially horses and cats, but also enjoyed her goats, pigs, and chickens. She was very well loved by her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
Rachel is survived by her husband, John Hammons, Fond du Lac, sisters and brother, Ellen (Michael) Christians, Juneau, Marcia (Craig) Kadinger, Columbus, Ryan (Nicole) Helmer, Berlin, father-in-law, Roger Hammons, Deerfield, brothers-in-law, Rodney Hammons, Waunakee, and Wayne (Jocelyn) Hammons, Cambridge, niece and nephews, Joel, Sarah, and Eric, aunts and uncles, Dave and Marlene Lentz, Horicon, and Robert and Delores Weiss, Juneau, she is also survived by her cats, Buttons and Corrie, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Bertha and her aunt, Carol Weiss.

I only knew Rachel through her sister Marcia. I work with Marcia and we know each others family and love them dearly. I pray for your family for love and togetherness and healing. I have only known Rachel for a short period of time and she really made our live brighter every time we would see her, she always loved to "Monkey Around":) She was a very proud wife and sister. She really had a different outlook on life after her surgery, she thought she lived on a new planet and was so happy that her and John just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. John, she loved you so much! We are truly sorry for your loss and for the family.

Dear John, and family, Rachel was the kindest person on the planet. We have been friends for a long time and its going to be hard with her gone. But she is in a better place and my brother made her feel welcomed im sure. Just take comfort in all the good memories and the times she made you laugh.
