Ralph R. Gerhard, age 77, died suddenly, Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his Fox Lake home surrounded by family.

A memorial gathering will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Friday at 10:00 AM with Fr. Mike Petrie officiating.

Ralph Robert Gerhard was born on February 26, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Adam and Elenore (Schmidt) Gerhard. He graduated high school from Milwaukee Boys Tech and worked for many years in the Milwaukee Public School system as an Engineer III. On October 23, 1982, he was united in marriage with Diane Bakos. In retirement, they moved to Fox Lake where Ralph enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water. He also enjoyed trains, woodworking and taking trips to the casinos.

Survivors include his wife Diane Gerhard of Fox Lake; three children, Cheryl (Richard) Witt and their son Justin (Michelle), Mark (Tanya) Gerhard and their children Joshua, Benjamin, and Samuel, and Steve (Sharon) Gerhard and their children Paul, Kelsey, and Cory; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

If desired, memorials may be made in Ralph R. Gerhard”s name to the American Heart Association.
