Ray W. Sonnenberg, age 70, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at his home in Random Lake. Graveside funeral services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Friends and relatives may gather at the graveside prior to services.
Ray Weber Sonnenberg was born on August 17, 1940 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Harvey and Henrietta (Weber) Sonnenberg. After graduating from Rosendale High School in 1958, he attended Stout State College where he studied Industrial Technology and was a member of the Rifle Club. Ray worked for Bell Machine Company for a short time before serving in the United States Army. He then worked for Badger Meter in Brown Deer for over 25 years. On June 5, 1982, Ray was united in marriage with Sharon (nee Gilmore) Neuman. She preceded him in death in 2000, Ray was a train hobbyist and he enjoyed outdoor activities hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.
Survivors include his step son, Anthony (Sue) Evers of Waukesha; four grandchildren, Daniel P. Weidmer, Stevie Welch, Martin Evers, and Rachel Luebbe; his sister-in-law, Linda (James) Guenther of Beaver Dam, other relatives, neighbors, and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two step daughters; Cindy O”Dell and Sherry Jensen; and a sister-in-law, Judy Umland.
Ray”s family would like to thank the many neighbors who looked-in on Ray and showed him kindness and support through the years.
