Rein M. Couperus, 72 years old, of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at St. Mary Hospital in Madison.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Lowell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Sun-Joong Kim officiating. A visitation will take place on Saturday, Nov. 26th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial to follow in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, WI.Rein was born on July 10, 1944 to Mollerus “Dutch” and Grietje “Margaret” (Hylardis) Couperus in Tzum, Netherlands. He immigrated to the United Sates in June, 1948 aboard the Leerdam with his parents and one brother. Rein previously lived in Indiana and Illinois, and moved to Wisconsin in 1961. He was united in marriage to Alieta Kuhlman on June 27, 1965 at the Lowell United Methodist Church in Lowell, WI. Rein was an active member of the Lowell United Methodist Church. Rein enjoyed serving God as a lay speaker and Gideon. He served on the Lowell Cemetery Board for many years. After working on the family farm, he later worked in sales. Rein is survived by: his wife Alieta of Lowell; his children- Pamela Couperus of Lowell, Brent & Robyn Couperus and their children Bryce, Ashne, Kelton, & Taiya of Mellen, WI, Nathan & Lorie Couperus and their children Hunter & Kody of Lowell; his brothers- Ted Couperus & Mike Couperus; his sister- Tena & Todd Crook; his special brothers- Bill & Barb Crisman and Ike & Chris deVries; as well as other family and friends.Rein is preceded in death by: his parents, his brother Rex Couperus, and his granddaughter Anica Couperus.”And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”.
