Richard A. Dick Ruby Thieme, 65, of Oak Grove passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau with the Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 13th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church, and also on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.
Richard was born to Arthur Art and Ruby (Westphal) Thieme on December 13, 1947 at the Lutheran Hospital in Beaver Dam. He was baptized and confirmed in faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau where he was a lifelong member.
Richard grew up on the Thieme Farm outside of Juneau, WI. He attended a one room school house on St. Helena Road, St. John’s Lutheran School and Juneau high School where he graduated in 1966. While in high school he was an active member of the football, basketball and track teams and made some of his lifelong friends there. He then attended UW-Steven’s Point and was recruited by the semi-pro football team the Madison Mustangs and played with that team for two years.
Richard had many jobs throughout his life; worked at the Co-Op, Jones Fa
