Richard M. Michel

Richard A. Michel, age 72, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Visitation for Richard will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday beginning at 5:00 PM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Richard Alan Michel was born on May 14, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Herbert and Helen Michel, the second of seven children. After high school, he attended the University of Miami, the Virginia Military Institute, and graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 1963. Richard did graduate work at St. Louis University and was a member of the Washington University School of Law class of 1968. He taught in Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Bensonville, IL before moving to Milwaukee and teaching at Cudahy High School and Milwaukee Area Technical College. He moved to the Beaver Dam area and health issues forced him to retire soon after.

Survivors include his two children, John (Renee) Schmied of Sun Prairie and Lyndie Daniels of Beaver Dam; his granddaughter, Ariana Daniels; other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

If desired, memorials may be made in Richard Michel”s name to the Navy Relief Fund.
