Robert A. Blankenheim, age 90, of Horicon, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Clearview Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in Juneau.
Visitation for Bob will be at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Robert Anton Blankenheim was born on November 3, 1922 in the Town of Kildare, Juneau County, Wisconsin to the late Peter and Sophia (Schuessler) Blankenheim. He graduated from Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee and was later united in marriage with Geraldine Bentz on June 30, 1943 at Mt. Olive Church in Milwaukee. Bob worked various jobs throughout his life and retired as a terminal manager with Ringle Express. He served as a City Alderman in Horicon and was a member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church. He had many hobbies and particularly enjoyed woodworking, painting houses, deer hunting, squirrel hunting, and traveling and camping with friends. Bob was a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years and he held several offices in the club. He was also a Boy Scout Leader in Wauwatosa and a Hunter Safety Instructor for the Horicon Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his five children, Dennis (Fran) Blankenheim of Key West, FL, Gary Blankenheim of Horicon, Richard (Elizabeth) Blankenheim of Wellington, CO, Paul (Denise) Blankenheim of Lakewood, CO, and Susan (Joel) Krueger of Horicon; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) Blankenheim, Eric (Brooke) Krueger, Matthew (Molly) Krueger, Rebecca Blankenheim, Ryan (Bethany) Blankenheim, Philip Krueger (fiancAC.e Stephanie Shadley), and Gera (AJ) Werling; nine great grandchildren, Leah and Logan Blankenheim, Annika and Lucas Krueger, Caleb and Brandon Krueger, Laytin Krueger, Wyatt Blankenheim, and Jeremiah Werling; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geri Blankenheim in 2006; three brothers, Louis, George, and Earl; one sister, Helen Sevenich; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Blankenheim.
If desired, memorials may be made in Robert A. Blankenheim”s name to St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon or the Alzheimer”s Accosiation.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clearview for the excellent care they gave Bob over the last several years while he was there.
