Robert J. Garczynski, age 83, died on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at his home in Beaver Dam.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 South Spring Street, Beaver Dam, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation, at the church with Fr. John Schreiter officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael”s Cemetery, Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Robert Joseph Garczynski was born on March 6, 1924 in Beaver Dam, to the late John and Lucy (Wodarczak) Garczynski. He served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. Robert was awarded with a Purple Heart and an Oak Leaf Cluster for injuries that he had sustained in the Battle of the Bulge. On November 27, 1948, he was united in marriage with Marcella M. Schwinn at Holy Trinity Church in Newburg. Robert worked at MetalFab for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a sports fan for all of the Wisconsin teams and most importantly, was a wonderful father and grandfather. Robert was a past member of St. Michael”s Catholic Church, where he was an usher, and was currently a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Gary (Doris) Garczynski, Cottage Grove, and Bruce (Joyce) Garczynski, Kewaskum, a granddaughter, Heather Garczynski, Kewaskum, three great grandchildren, two brothers, David (Rosie) Garczynski and John Garczynski, both of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcella, on November 5, 2003, one sister and nine brothers.
