Robert K. Corton, Sr., age 66, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at his home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Robert will be held at the Bancroft First Baptist Church, 8376 Klondyke Street, Bancroft, WI, on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Jeff Silha will officiate. Burial will be at Plainfield Cemetery.
Robert Kenneth Corton was born on January 4, 1946 in Hillsboro to the Ralph and Elva (Chase) Corton. On June 22, 1968, he was united in marriage with Peggy Sparks in Elroy, Wisconsin. Robert began to farm at the young age of 14 and loved it so much that he continued to do so throughout his life. He farmed for several Tomah area farms before moving to Beaver Dam in the mid to late 1980”s and farming for the Nehls Brothers in Juneau. When he wasn”t farming, Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Corton of Beaver Dam; four children, Cindy (Terry) Kohls of Juneau, Kim (Mark) Yuenger of Juneau; Tory (Steve) Cox of Juneau; and Robert Corton, Jr. of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Kohls, Damian and Slade Yuenger, and Nicole, Samuel and Stephanie Cox; a great grandson, Saith Sommerfeldt; eight brothers and sisters, Tom (Rose) Corton , Jerry (Nel) Corton, Gary Corton, Brian (Dawn) Corton, Jim (Joyce) Schroeder, Arnold (Ruth) Schroeder, Twiggs (Robert) Harkness, and Lonnie Schroeder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Corton, Elva Schroeder, and LaVerne “Old Man” Schroeder; his sister, Laverne (Stuart) Huff; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
