Robert L. Messer, 83, of Beaver Dam passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Randolph Health Services surrounded by his family. Robert was born the son of Edgar and Vivian (Schmutzler) Messer on April 4, 1935 in Beaver Dam. He was a 1953 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Bob was married to Patricia Horn on June 26, 1954 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a lifelong dairy farmer on his family farm. Bob was an active member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a 4-H leader for many years. He enjoyed going to parades and fairs and was active in helping the Dodge County Fair. Bob was a strong member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO) and NAFCOR where he held numerous positions. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed bowling for many years. Bob is survived by his wife, Pat of Beaver Dam; his children: Randy Messer (special friend, Debbie Harder) of DeForest, Sheree (Otto) Mattke of Fall River, Deb (Gary) McFarlane of Beaver Dam, and Curtis Messer of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren: Angie (Dan) Kieta, Ben Messer, Megan (Ryan) Duffy, Rachel (Brandon) Ver Velde, Jay (Amy) Schmuhl, Mike (Jaime) Schmuhl, Jeff (Mandi) Schmuhl, Amanda (Joe) Fischer, Adam (Amanda) Messer, Drew Messer, and Abby Messer; eight greatgrandchildren: Brianne, Brooke, Will, Kaleb, Kelin, Hayden, Charlotte, and Evelyn; nine step-grandchildren; six step-greatgrandchildren; his brother, Lynn (Rita) Messer of Sheboygan Falls; his brother-in-law, Chuck Schimming of Fox Lake; his sister-in-law, Betty Indermuhle of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Charlotte Messer; his brother, Don Messer; and his sister, Karen Schimming. A visitation will be held at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. Paul Stratman will officiate. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
