Robert R. Gottschalk, age 93, of Fox Lake, entered eternal life Friday, March 28, 2014 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
Visitation for Robert will be at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 noon. Funeral services will follow at church beginning at 12:00 noon. Rev. David Nottling will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Trenton Township.
Robert Richard Gottschalk was born on January 5, 1921 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Dietrich and Norma (Nero) Gottschalk. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. On May 13, 1950, he was united in marriage with Alberta Oldham in Beaver Dam. Bob owned and operated Meteor Meats in Beaver Dam for many years and he and Alberta enjoyed getting away on weekends to their cottage on Fox Lake. Bob was a member of St. Stephen”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam until 2000, when Bob and Alberta made Fox Lake their permanent home. He was currently a member at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet (Bob) Rake of Waukesha and Karen (Gerry) Bernards of Madison; four grandchildren, Melanie Rake of Milwaukee, Jeremy Rake of Madison, Carrie Bernards of Madison, and Brent (Vicki) Bernards of Madison; a great grandson, Jackson Bernards; a niece, Judy (Jack) Rhodes of Beaver Dam; other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 2006; and his sister, Viola Verriden.
If desired, memorials may be made in Robert Gottschalk”s name to the Badger Honor Flight or St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake.
The family would like to express special thanks to Reverend David Nottling and the women from St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake, and the staffs at UW Hospital and Agrace Hospice for all of their care and support given to Robert and the family.
