Roy I. Hargrave, age 84, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at his home in Oak Grove Township.
A memorial gathering will be held at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM with Rev. Paul Hudson officiating. Inurnment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha at a later date.
Roy Isaac Hargrave was born on November 2, 1926; the youngest son of Arthur and Katherine (Hoppe) Hargrave. He was a descendant of the Smart family, Waukesha”s first pioneer family. On October 18, 1958, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Pagel in Waukesha. Roy farmed at his family farm in Waukesha until moving to Pleasant Grove Farm in Juneau in 1973. Roy was a gentle soul who never complained or said an unkind word.
He will be missed by his wife, Dorothy Hargrave of Oak Grove Township, daughter, Lynn (Ray) Aumann of Hartford, grandsons, Joseph, Andrew and Jacob Aumann, all of Hartford, sister, Gladys Smith of Brookfield, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arthur Hargrave, and sisters, Hazel Klug, Lucile Greenwaldt, and Jane Tolbert.
In honor of Roy”s favorite quote “Farmers feed the world!” memorials may be made in his name to your local food pantry or to the Horicon EMS.
