Rudolph “Rudy” Bauer, 88 years old, of the township of LeRoy, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016. Rudy was born and died at his home, which has been the family homestead since 1884.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 25th at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, with the Rev. Father Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Thursday, August 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church. Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in LeRoy.Rudolph Joseph Bauer was born on May 22, 1928 to Norbert and Monica (Wild) Bauer in the township of LeRoy on the family farm. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Jane Kiefer, on September 29, 1951 at St. Killian Catholic Church in Hartford, WI. Together with his wife, he was the owner/operator of Rudmar Farms, where he was a prominent breeder of Registered Holsteins. Rudy also sold registered Holsteins, both nationally and internationally. He has hosted many foreign visitors over the years.Rudy was a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Rudy had a true love of God, a true love for his church, his wife and his family. He served on the board of directors for the Bank of Oakfield for 30 years. He also served on the board of directors for Theresa Mutual Insurance Co. for 15 years, where he was also an agent for 11 years. Rudy served as a director for Wisconsin Herd Management and the Dodge County Holstein Breeders. He was a member of both the State and National Holstein Associations. He was also a member of the Dairy Shrine Club. Rudy was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and enjoyed watching sporting events on TV. He was a loyal Brett Favre fan.Rudy is survived by: his wife Mary Jane of LeRoy; his children Gail (Dr. Jeff) Schauer of Madison, Nancy (Joe Bohlman) Bauer of Watertown, Judge Steven (Sara Mills) Bauer of Beaver Dam, Marcia (Kurt) Krieser of Mayville, Michael (Kate LaRocque) Bauer of Madison, John (Holly) Bauer of West Bend, and Thomas Bauer of Washington D.C.; his brother-in-law Jerome Clark of Lomira; his sister-in-law Margaret (Vincent) Wisniewski of Florida; his grandchildren Brad Schauer, Matt (Shelley) Schauer, Laura Bacon, Ryan Bacon, Rachael Bauer, Sara (Dan) Decker, Kory Krieser, Miles Bauer, Ava Bauer, Jack Bauer, Chloe Bauer, Vivian Bauer, and Cecelia Bauer; his great grandchildren Callie, Airabelle, Paxton, Sullivan, and Crosby; other relatives and friends.Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marie, Erna, Alice, and LaVerne, and his granddaughter Jessica.Memorials may be directed to St. Andrew’s Restoration Fund, St. Agnes Foundation/Hospice, or for Masses for Rudy.
