Russell C. Hein, 95 years old, of Waterloo passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Willowbrook Nursing & Rehab in Lake Mills, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. James Adomeit officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
Russell was born the son of Christian and Ella (Dobberstein) Hein on December 2, 1918 in the Township of York in Dane County. He was united in marriage to Francis Hermann on May 24, 1941 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was later married to Myrtle Bartosch on October 17, 1997. Russell was a lifelong farmer in Waterloo.
Russell was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo and formerly a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching Packer Brewer, and Badger games. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Ruby (Eugene) Kegler of Waterloo, his daughter-in-law, Sandra (Robert) Dolan of Jackson, MO, his brother Robert Hein of Waterloo, eight grandchildren: Brian (Chris) Kegler, Glenn Kegler, Dawn (Mark) Kube, Michelle (Matthew) Hardinger, Michael (Bobbi) Kegler, Jodi (William) Knapton, Kelly (Terry) Kuhl, and Jacki (Brent) Kennedy, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife Francis, his 2nd wife Myrtle, his son Ronald, his sisters Alice and Marion Raith and his brothers Gerald and Kenneth Hein.
