Russell R. Guptill, age 81, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at his home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Russell will be at St. Mark”s Episcopal Church in Beaver Dam on Sunday, January 10, 2010 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Funeral services will follow at church on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 PM. Rev. Mary J. Mail will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Russell Roland Guptill was born on March 2, 1928 in Horicon, Wisconsin to the late Herbert and Alice (Mieschke) Guptill. He owned and operated a barber shop in Appleton for many years and then worked at Advanced Products in Beaver Dam. In 1986, Russell moved to Beaver Dam and on February 7, 1989, he was united in marriage with Doris Theisen at St. Mark”s Episcopal Church in Beaver Dam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and sports, in general.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Guptill of Beaver Dam; seven children, Candyce (John) Tyler of Sheboygan, Terri (Ken) Applecamp of Meeme, Roxanne (Roger) Sonneman of Sheboygan, Kim (Craig) Conklin of Sheboygan Falls, Russ (Cheryl) Guptill of Oshkosh, Scott Guptill of Sheboygan, and Penny Guptill (Annette Salm) of Appleton; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his step-son, Todd (Gloria) Crouch of Sonoma, CA; four brothers and sisters, Mildred (Gene) Wackett of Oregon, Ronald Guptill of Reeseville, Donna (Edwin) Freber of Fall River, and Alvin Guptill of King; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Schleen Havens, and eight brothers and sisters, Raymond Guptill, Jane, in infancy, Clarence Guptill, June Miner, James Guptill, Lester Guptill, Eleanor Borja, and Richard Guptill.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Russell R. Guptill”s name to St. Mark”s Episcopal Church, 700 E. Mill St., Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
